Lasith Malinga retires from all forms of cricket aged 38
Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga announced his retirement from T20 cricket, thus ending his around 20-year playing career. Malinga had retired from Tests in 2011 and ODIs in 2019. In a video uploaded on YouTube, Malinga said, “While my shoes will rest…my love for the game will never rest.” Malinga took 1,093 wickets in his professional career.

Indiaās German javelin throw coach Uwe Hohn sacked, AFI releases statement
Athletics Federation of India (AFI) have said India’s German javelin throw coach Uwe Hohn is being sent home and his contract will not be renewed. “We’re changing Uwe Hohn. His performance isn’t good. We’ll bring two new coaches,” AFI President Adille Sumariwalla said. In June, John had criticised India’s Olympic preparations and said it was difficult to work with AFI.

Ex-India head coach Gary Kirsten has ruled out making a comeback as India’s coach after Ravi Shastri, whose tenure ends after the T20 World Cup. Talking about his stint in IPL where he coached DC and RCB, Kirsten said, “Many owners employ new coaches…in the hope that there will be a quick turnaround of results…cricket seldom works like that.”
