Referring to India captain Virat Kohli and Cristiano Ronaldo being in Manchester currently, Manchester United tweeted, “One city, two GOATs (Greatest of All Time).” Kohli is currently in Manchester for the fifth Test against England, while Ronaldo is expected to make his second Manchester United debut on Saturday at Old Trafford against Newcastle.

Conflict of Interest complaint filed against Dhoni’s appointment as mentor for T20 WC

The BCCI apex council has received a complaint against ex-captain MS Dhoni’s appointment as India’s mentor for T20 World Cup. As per the complaint by ex-Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association life member Sanjeev Gupta, Dhoni’s appointment is a violation of Conflict of Interest clause, under which one person cannot hold two posts. Dhoni is also captain of CSK IPL franchise.

North Korea banned from participating in 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics

North Korea has been banned from competing at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing by the IOC as punishment for refusing to send a team to the Tokyo Games, citing the COVID-19 pandemic. Individual athletes from North Korea who qualify to compete in Beijing could still be accepted by a separate decision in the future, IOC President, Thomas Bach, said.

World number one men’s tennis player Novak Djokovic defeated Matteo Berrettini 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 in the US Open quarter-final to reach his 42nd Grand Slam semi-final. The 34-year-old Serbian is now just two wins away from a 21st major and a calendar-year Grand Slam. Djokovic has now won 80 matches at US Open.
