Manchester United and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo broke the world record for scoring the most goals in men’s international football. The 36-year-old scored twice in the last minutes of Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Ireland in World Cup Qualifiers to take his tally of goals to 111. He broke the record held by former Iran forward Ali Daei, who scored 109 goals.
Malaysian athlete’s gold medal taken away for arriving 3 minutes late to Paralympic final
Malaysian shot-putter Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli’s gold medal at Tokyo Paralympics has been taken away after officials determined he had no good reason for arriving three minutes late to call room ahead of the final. The 31-year-old was allowed to compete in F20 final despite being late and he went on to win gold and break the world record, which also won’t stand.
