Snowfall in higher reaches of Dalhousie ends months-long drought of tourists, hoteliers hopeful of good business on Christmas, New Year

CHAMBA: The fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of Dalhousie town of Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district has to some extent eased the months-long drought of tourists in the picturesque hill station.

After the snowfall on the hills of Dayan Kund in famous hill station Dalhousie, tourists have again started turning to the town. Though there was no snowfall in Dalhousie town, the hills of Dayan Kund in the upper area of the town turned white with snow and the snow here has now become the centre of attraction for tourists.

Hoteliers and others related to tourism are looking happy with the arrival of tourists in Dalhousie since Friday. Apart from the neighbouring states of Punjab, tourists from Haryana and Delhi have also started coming to enjoy the weather and snow in Dalhousie. Tourists are seen playing with snow in the hills of Dayan Kund, while photoshoots are also going on amidst the snow.

Those related to the tourism industry in Dalhousie are now expecting good business in the coming days. Hoteliers have started preparing for the programmes organised for tourists on Christmas and New Year. Hoteliers are offering attractive packages to attract tourists from other states on Christmas and New year. Harpreet Monu, general secretary of Dalhousie Hotel Association, says that recently after snowfall on the hills of Dayan Kund, tourists have started coming to Dalhousie. And more tourists are expected to come to Dalhousie in the coming days. Harpreet said that Dalhousie is ready to welcome tourists for Christmas and New Year events.
