Mesmerising performances by Kathak dancer Dinesh Gupta, ‘Feet of Fire’ dance group of Sundernagar and the little Aradhya, famous as Himachal Pradesh’s ‘Viral Girl’, set the stage on fire at the TNR Shining Star Awards in Bilaspur on Sunday (June 23, 2024).
Dinesh Gupta, the first male post-graduate Kathak dancer in Himachal, performed on the theme of ‘Krishanleela’, the childhood activities of Lord Krishna. He is a disciple of Guru Munna Shukla of Lucknow Gharana. He received two-year scholarship from Sahitya Kala Parishad in New Delhi and has been honoured with Himalayan Cultural Heritage Award, Maharaja Sir Chandra Prakash Award, Nritya Shiromani Award, among others. He is presently working at DAV Public School at Sundernagar.
The ‘Feet of Fire’ dance group, which too is based out of Sundernagar in Mandi district, set the stage on fire in true sense with their performance. Aradhya, a young girl, too left the audience spellbound.
Nearly 300 meritorious students turned up at the ‘Shining Star Awards’, though there was a total gathering of more than 600 as the young bright minds were accompanied by their parents, teachers and siblings. Long queues of students were witnessed at the Art and Culture Auditorium, near Govt Girls Senior Secondary School in Bilaspur, since early morning even as the registrations were to start at 9 am.
Himachal Pradesh Minister for Technical Education, Vocational and Industrial Training Rajesh Dharmani was the Chief Guest. The June 23 event in Bilaspur was the fifth episode of the second edition of the prestigious ‘Shining Star Awards’, instituted in 2023 to celebrate the extraordinary academic achievements of the super brains, among them several from ordinary backgrounds. Before Bilaspur, the awards were distributed in Dharamshala, Chamba, Kullu and Mandi.
Team Newz Radar will now be shifting focus to Una to organise the ‘Shining Star Awards’ at the Haroli Auditorium on June 26 where Deputy Chief Minister and local MLA Mukesh Agnihotri is expected to be the chief guest.
The aim behind organising the ‘Shining Star Awards’ is to connect with bright young minds and foster a constructive society, says Sunil Chadha, Executive Editor at The Newz Radar. He avers that it’s a must to honour students, their parents and teachers who have worked hard for years to achieve such academic milestones.
