
Destin Daniel Cretton, who helmed Marvel Studios’ ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’, has been roped in to direct the series ‘American Born Chinese’.
The upcoming action-comedy series is based on a graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang. According to Deadline, ‘American Born Chinese’ explores issues of identity, culture and family.
Written and executive produced by 2017 animated program Emmy winner Bob’s Burgers executive producer Kelvin Yu and his brother, Charles Yu, the series is executive produced by Melvin Mar and Jake Kasdan. Asher Goldstein and Gene Luen Yang are also executive producers. Kelvin Yu serves as showrunner on the series, which will start casting soon.
