Angry over imposition of national education policy without discussion in Parliament

The Students Federation of India (SFI), which believes that the national education policy is nothing but an agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), is planning to gherao the Himachal Raj Bhavan to protest its imposition without any discussions in the Parliament.
In a press note issued on Tuesday, the SFI state president Raman Tharta and secretary Amit Thakur said that the national education policy of the BJP-led government at the Centre wishes to keep students away from scientific points of view and to communalise their thought process.
The failure of the Union government to mention the reservation policy for SC/ST in the policy clearly shows that the students of SC/ST would be deprived of education.
The duo said that the Union government is also discouraging research by cutting down the stipend of students doing research.
Education is primarily scientific and progressive whereas the Union government’s policy is pushing students towards unscientific and conservative thought processes, the duo said.
SFI believes that this policy should be rejected and it has already submitted a draft of an alternate education policy to the Union and state governments, the duo informed.
SFI is also seeking an impartial inquiry into fraudulent appointments of professors in Himachal Pradesh University and has urged the Chancellor and Governor of Himachal
Pradesh to take this seriously.
The duo said that 70 per cent of colleges do not have principals and posts of professors are lying vacant in many colleges.
