KANGRA: Sourabh Sood, a senior journalist with over 25 years of experience, who has been associated with The Newz Radar since its establishment, has now dedicated himself to the noble cause of pledging organs posthumously.

Hailing from Baijnath in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, Sourabh Sood, who is in his forties, has embraced the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare’s organ donation programme.
Asked what inspired him to join the programme, Sourabh Sood revealed that the idea crystallised during a conversation with a senior doctor at Dharamshala Zonal Hospital. “The doctor expressed deep regret over the unfortunate reality that some young individuals had to succumb to their illnesses simply due to the unavailability of organs.

Then, the Union Government introduced an initiative recently, removing the age limit of 65 years for organ donation. I immediately enrolled for it and feel very contended now. It’s my effort to give back to society,” he recounted.

Sourabh Sood has received his ‘Organ Donation Pledge Certificate’, which shows him having donated all his organs and tissues, including liver, eyes, kidneys, lungs, heart, intestine and pancreas. The organs and tissues are taken from a donor’s body after the person is declared brain dead by a board of doctors.
