Nurpur: A meeting was convened at the Bachat Bhavan chaired by SDM Gursimran Singh, along with booth level officers (BLOs) on Friday to discuss preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Assistant Election Officer Gursimran Singh mentioned that names of excluded voters are being added to the voter list. Additionally, ID cards are being issued to voters aged 18 to 19. For the first time in Lok Sabha elections, provisions will be made for elderly voters aged 85 and above, and those with disabilities exceeding 40% to vote from home.
He stated that all BLOs have been briefed on Election Commission guidelines, with strict instructions for compliance.
All officials involved in the election process have been directed to complete all preparations.
Gursimran Singh also noted that individuals above 18 without voter ID cards can obtain them from booth level officers or election offices in their areas. Moreover, excluded voters can register their names with booth level officers to be included in the voter list.
He emphasized adherence to the Model Code of Conduct, ensuring removal of political propaganda material within 72 hours from government buildings, premises, hoardings, banners, posters, flags, and political party calendars with photos. He further mentioned that thorough police patrols and vehicle checks are being conducted at all interstate borders to enhance security measures
