Schools reopen in Himachal

Shimla | TNR

Schools in Himachal reopened after a prolonged period of time. As per the decision taken by the State Disaster Management Authority, students of class 10 and 12 attended classes on Monday.

On the first day, out of a total of  1,34,182 children in government schools, 64,178 children, that is, 47.82 per cent children attended school.

The presence of less than 50 per cent students indicates that there is still uncertainty amongst parents about sending their children to school.

Maximum attendance in Kullu accounted for the maximum number of students who attended school, with 61 per cent, while Mandi was the least with 36.46 per cent.

Students of class 10 and 12 will attend school on Tuesday and Wednesday, while students of class 9 and 11 will attend on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Schools in the state have been closed since the second week of August, after several students tested positive for Covid-19. Children have been taking online lessons since then.
