Sardar Patel University-Mandi’s first convocation to be held on Sept 12, medals to be given in 6 disciplines

MANDI: Sardar Patel University-Mandi is set to host its inaugural convocation ceremony on September 12 (2024). The historic event was announced by university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Lalit Kumar Awasthi during a press briefing. He described the upcoming convocation as a monumental milestone in the university’s history.
The Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Chancellor of Sardar Patel University, Shiv Pratap Shukla, will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Professor Awasthi expressed his deep gratitude to the Governor for accepting the invitation and sparing his valuable time to attend the event.
During the ceremony, approximately 311 degrees will be conferred upon students who graduated in 2020 and 2021. These students were originally enrolled at Sardar Vallabhbhai Cluster University, which was elevated to the status of Sardar Patel University, Himachal Pradesh’s second state university, in 2022.
In addition to the degrees, medals will be awarded to outstanding students from the first two batches in six disciplines: MSc in Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics; MA-History and Master of Business Administration.
Professor Awasthi also shared that during his recent visit to Shimla, he met the Governor, Chief Minister and the Education Minister to brief them about the university’s progress and to seek their support for the convocation ceremony. He extended his heartfelt thanks to the Governor and the state government for their backing.
Preparations for the convocation are well underway, with various committees within the university already hard at work to ensure the event’s success. The announcement was made in the presence of Registrar Engineer Sunil Verma, Dean of Academic Affairs Karan Gupta and Public Relations Officer Gaurav Kapoor.
