The Central government has approved a medical devices park for Himachal. This park will be developed at Nalagarh in Solan district, where 265 hectares of land has been identified for the project.
The estimated cost of this park will be Rs 266.95 crores and will be borne by the state government.
Guidelines for park notified Chief Minister Jairam Thakur thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sanctioning the medical devices park.
He said the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers of the government of India had notified the state government of the guidelines for the park promotion scheme.
The State government is expected to invest more than Rs 5000 crores in the project which is expected to fetch a turnover of Rs 20,000 crores and provide gainful employment to 10,000 people, he said.
First of its kind in north India The Chief Minister said that this would be the first such park of its kind in North India and would promote the second phase of industrialisation along with manufacturing of consumer goods.
It will also have industries producing capital goods like plant and machinery etc.
