MANDI: Members of the Rotary Club of Chhoti Kashi Mandi on Wednesday (September 13, 2023) visited flashflood-affected victims of Trayambi village near here and distributed mattresses, quilts, medicines, ration, sanitation kits and clothes to 52 people of families evacuated from their houses after the monsoon mayhem in August.
The displaced families have now been shifted to the hostel of Panchayati Raj Institute located at Sidhyani village, around 10 km from the Mandi district headquarters.

Rotary Club secretary Suman Sharma said they had reached the victims on the call of another fellow Rotarian, Prof Anupama Singh, who hails from the same panchayat Manthala. “She apprised the club about the plight of these villagers and the members decided to help them in best possible way,” she said. Suman said their club had been providing best possible aid to the flood-affected victims ever since floods hit Mandi. Earlier, similar aid was provided in Shilakipar and Nela areas by the club members, she said.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Anupama Singh assured the villagers that the club would raise their voice before the administration and the government for allotment of houses to them at the earliest so that they could start their life afresh.

The club secretary later thanked Sahyog Chhoti Kashi Mandi, Citizen Council and Mandi Help Post for providing support during the noble cause. The club members present during the event included Raminder Kaur, Renu Gulati, Jaspal Singh, Deep Kapoor, Anuradha Sood, Nivedita Anand and Anjana.
