Decision taken in view of Corona third wave possibility

Shimla | TNR
Shimla district administration has woken up to the threat of a third wave of Corona following the Himachal Pradesh high court intervention and directions.
No more crowding at the Ridge, Mall Road
The district administration has decided to regulate the entry to the Ridge and Mall Road to prevent crowding at these two spots which are favourites for tourists. Strict action would be taken against those found violating Covid 19 protocols by police force deployed in the area.
Benches on the Ridge removed
In a bid to discourage tourists and local residents to hang around too much at the Ridge or on the Mall Road the benches in the area have been removed on Saturday by the administration. A few benches remain for the benefit of senior citizens only.
Meeting with stakeholders
Prior to imposing restrictions for visitors and local residents at the Ridge and Mall Road, Shimla district collector Aditya Negi held a meeting on Saturday with stakeholders including hotel association office-bearers, business-related bodies, taxi operators and the like. He urged them to make sure that Covid 19 protocols were enforced by all concerned.
Negi said that police force has been deployed at the entry points to the Ridge and Mall Road to regulate the entry of tourists and others.Â
