DHARAMSHALA: A regional training session on HIV and TB was conducted at the Government Hospital in Dharamshala, bringing together Chief Programme Officer (CPO) and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) supervisors.
Dr RK Sood, the Medical Officer, led a crucial meeting with the Health Department and the Child Development Officer (CDPO), focusing on the provisions of the HIV Act 2017 and addressing TB concerns.
The discussions delved deep into strategies for combating HIV and TB, with health workers exploring various initiatives aimed at their eradication. Key health objectives were deliberated upon, emphasising the early recognition of symptoms and the importance of prompt treatment. Insights were shared regarding the global “END TB” initiative, aimed at reducing mortality rates and alleviating the financial burdens associated with TB and HIV/AIDS.
The meeting also shed light on the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which aims to raise public awareness and eradicate TB. Dr Sood provided essential information on HIV/AIDS and TB, underscoring the urgent need to challenge societal stigma and discrimination against individuals living with these conditions.
The participants engaged in an open dialogue, offering suggestions on various approaches to tackle TB and emphasizing the importance of nutrition for TB patients. Ashok Kumar, Programme Officer of the Integrated Child Development Scheme in Kangra, pledged to support the cause by becoming Nikshay Mitra.
