Rajeev Kumar, a 1988 batch IFS officer of the Himachal cadre and PCCF, may be the next head of the forest department.
It is widely believed that Rajeev Kumar has an edge for the top position considering his seniority. Lobbying for the new PCCF began following the retirement of Dr Savita on Thursday.
Although there are four others on the seniority list ahead of Rajeev Kumar, all of them are serving in different states on Central deputation. The four are IFS VK Tewari, SD Sharma, Sameer Rastogi and AR Reddy.
Next on the seniority list after Rajeev Kumar are PCCF (wildlife), Ajay Srivastava and PCF Dr Pavnesh.
Meanwhile, JP Sharma, director of the Horticulture department and ENC Naveen Puri of the Hydel Power department also retired on Thursday.
After being posted as the DPC, Joint Director Hemchand is being tipped as the next Horticulture Director on the basis of seniority, while Sanjeev Kaul’s name has been doing the rounds as the Chief Engineer of the Hydel Power Department.
