Promises were showered by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur during his visit to the election-bound Jubbal-Kotkhai assembly area on Friday.
CM addresses sammelan
Two additional offices of sub-divisional magistrates were announced for Jubbal-Kotkhai by the CM while he was addressing representatives of Panchayati raj institutes at a district-level golden jubilee gram swaraj sammelan in Khadapatthar.
A block development office in Kotkhai, a fire brigade sub-center in Tikkar, sub-tehsil offices in Kalbog and Savda (Saraswati Nagar) and shifting of Savda police station were also promised by the CM.
Financial grants announced
Financial grants of Rs 20 lakh each were also announced by Thakur for office buildings of nine new panchayats in the Jubbal-Kotkhai assembly area. He said that training was being imparted to elected representatives of Panchayati raj institutions to enable them to come up with novel schemes for the development of villages in their respective panchayats. However, he said, the corona spread has impacted such activities.
Apple price hiked under MIS
The CM announced a hike in the price of apples by Re 1 under market intervention scheme (MIS). Earlier he paid homage to the party’s former chief whip Narendra Bargata. He went on to inaugurate an exhibition. Urban development minister Suresh Bhardwaj, rural development and panchayat minister Virendra Kanwar and energy minister Sukhram Chaudhary, among others, were present.
Congress leader highlights neglect
Prospective Congress candidate for the Jubbal-Kotkhai assembly bypolls, Rohit Thakur, while welcoming the announcement, said that the assembly area was neglected for the past three and a half years. The announcements were being made now as bypolls are approaching to please the voters, he said.
The government has financially burdened orchard owners by removing the subsidy on fertilisers and insecticides, he said adding that the BJP government would pay for this folly.
