President Ram Nath Kovind will visit Himachal next month. The President’s visit comes on the occasion of Himachal’s golden jubilee year of attaining statehood. Assembly Speaker Vipin Parmar said that the President will address a one-day special session of the legislative assembly on September 17 to mark the occasion.
President to arrive on Sept 16
Parmar informed that the President will reach Shimla on September 16 and stay on till September 20 at the Rashtrapati Niwas retreat in Charabara, about 15 kms from Shimla.
Himachal became a state on January 25
The Speaker said that Himachal had become the 18th state of the Republic of India on January 25, achieving complete statehood. The state government has thus decided to celebrate this golden jubilee year with gaiety and has organised 51 programmes in this connection. The special session of the legislative assembly is also part of this celebration. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will also be present during the special session of the assembly.
