Defying the predictions of exit polls ahead of the June 4 Lok Sabha election results, Himachal Pradesh Congress president Pratibha Singh has asserted that she was confident of the formation of the INDIA bloc government led by the Congress at the Centre.
Pratibha, however, also said that the election results, both at the state and national levels, would deliver favourable outcomes for the Congress provided the “integrity of the electronic voting machines (EVMs) remains uncompromised”.
The Congress state president, who is the outgoing MP from the Mandi parliamentary constituency, expressed optimism regarding not only the national scenario but also the state elections, claiming that all four Lok Sabha seats and byelections to six Assembly constituencies in Himachal would be won by her party.
Dismissing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious slogan of “400-paar” as mere rhetoric, she said that the BJP was unlikely to cross even 200 seats. She criticised the BJP for its failure to speak on crucial issues such as inflation and unemployment during the election campaign.
According to her, the electorate in the state had overwhelmingly endorsed the Congress, with a significant turnout in its favour. She accused the BJP of resorting to unfortunate tactics to influence the election results, including spreading fear among the people with baseless statements and attempting to manipulate the democratic process through financial means.
She credited the Congress’ strong campaign efforts for the anticipated success, emphasising the party’s commitment to addressing the needs of the people. She expressed confidence in the victory of Vikramaditya Singh in the Mandi parliamentary constituency, citing overwhelming support from the electorate.
Asserting that the people of Mandi had historically aligned with the Congress and continued to do so, she highlighted Vikramaditya’s development vision for the constituency as a key factor driving voter support.
