Posting Scam in Himachal? Minister complains to CM Sukhu about senior IAS officer’s involvement

Shimla: An alleged posting scam has surfaced in the administrative corridors of Himachal Pradesh as a Congress minister has accused a senior IAS officer of being involved in the illegal practice of seeking bribes from government employees for transfer.

According to reliable sources in the state government, the claims were made during a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting. While the identities of both the minister and the IAS officer remain confidential, the complaint has added to the political tension in the state. The accusations reportedly revolve around the officer allegedly accepting bribes in exchange for favourable postings of employees.

Accusations raised in high-level meeting

The complaint was lodged during a recent CLP meeting held during the Assembly session. According to sources, the minister raised serious concerns about the conduct of the senior IAS officer, alleging that money was being exchanged for transfers within the government. The charges, which are yet to be substantiated, sent shockwaves through the gathering.

In response to the complaint, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu assured the minister that a thorough investigation would be conducted and appropriate action would follow if the allegations were proven true.

Silence in room, but questions linger

Sources present during the meeting described a brief moment of silence that followed the allegations, reflecting the gravity of the situation. The minister’s claim, if verified, would expose a major scandal at the heart of the state’s bureaucracy. It has now been over two weeks since the complaint was made, but there is np clarity yet on whether any investigation has taken place or if the issue is being addressed internally.

While Himachal Pradesh is grappling with economic issues and communal tensions, a minister accusing a senior IAS officer of corruption is a cause for concern. If the allegations were found to be true, it could further damage the credibility of the state government, said an official.
