Dharamshala: In Kangra district, a mass polio vaccination campaign has been scheduled for March 3. The aim is to administer the polio vaccine to 1,08,711 children aged zero to five years.
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa chaired a review meeting on Wednesday at his office to discuss the preparations for the pulse polio campaign.
Bairwa highlighted the importance of ensuring that no child in Kangra district remains deprived of the polio vaccine, urging officials from various departments including health, Ayush, women and child development, education, and industry to actively participate in making the campaign successful.
He highlighted the need for special efforts to reach children in residential slums, makeshift settlements, and industrial areas.
Prior to this, Chief Medical Officer Dr Sushil Sharma talked about plans to set up 1070 polio booths, along with 21 transit booths and identification of 173 high-risk sites.
Special booths will be established in areas with high mobility such as slums, construction sites, and high-risk areas. A total of 2134 teams have been formed for the campaign, comprising 213 supervisors and 4268 employees.
Medical Superintendent Dr Bandana gave a presentation on the polio vaccination program during the occasion, attended by officials from various departments.
