Tensions boiled over inside the District and Sessions Court complex in Ghaziabad’s Raj Nagar area of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday as a dispute over a bail petition escalated into a physical confrontation.
Videos circulating on social media purportedly showed a chaotic scene, with police personnel wielding batons and even a wooden chair while clashing with a group of lawyers. Reports indicate that the altercation stemmed from a disagreement between a judge and a lawyer over a bail petition, though specific details remain unclear.

The confrontation began within the judge’s chamber, prompting lawyers to gather outside in protest after being dispersed by security personnel. The video showed police pushing back against the lawyers. In one video, police personnel could be seen brandishing batons and one of them lifting a wooden chair.
In response, the Ghaziabad Bar Association has announced an emergency meeting, expressing concern over the treatment of lawyers by the police. Though no major injuries have been officially confirmed, the incident has raised questions about the balance between court security and lawyers’ rights within the judicial environment.
