Mandi: Himachal Pradesh BJP president Rajeev Bindal on Tuesday (May 14, 2024) criticised opposition leaders for invoking the fear of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of nomination of Mandi Lok Sabha poll candidate Kangana Ranaut, Bindal said if Pakistan hadn’t worn bangles, India would make the neighbouring country wear bangles, signalling a strong stance against any perceived threats.
“These days, Congress leaders across the country are repeatedly bringing up Pakistan, creating an impression that anti-national elements are becoming active again,” Bindal said. He emphasised that Prime Minister Modi had always responded decisively to terrorists and will continue to do so in the future.
Bindal further attacked opposition leaders for their statements on Pakistan. “We must fiercely counter pro-Pakistan statements. If Pakistan hasn’t worn bangles, we will make it wear them. They need flour and electricity; perhaps they don’t have bangles either,” he remarked.
He also underscored the need for strong leadership, rejecting the idea of an unstable and weak government under Congress. “The country does not want a cowardly Prime Minister. It needs a strong leader like Narendra Modi who can make and implement decisions effectively,” Bindal asserted.
Bindal criticized former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah for his recent statement about Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities and Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar for advocating discussions to end terrorism. Aiyar’s video, in which he suggested that without dialogue, Pakistan might perceive India as arrogant and any mad man could use nuclear bombs, has drawn particular ire.
“The Congress is clearly seeing its defeat in the upcoming elections, and they realise that Narendra Modi is likely to become Prime Minister again. Hence, Congress and its allies are making such baseless statements,” said Bindal.
