Three persons including a panchayat Pradhan, were killed in a road accident in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday (May 30, 2024).
According to information, the accident occurred on the Balichowki-Sudharani road near Fagudhar where a car driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into a 500-metre-deep gorge.
The accident took place around noon when the Alto car, on its way from Sudharani to Balichowki, went off the road and fell into the deep drain. All the three occupants of the car died on the spot.
Upon receiving the news of the accident, local administration and police teams arrived at the scene to commence rescue operations.
The area residents, alerted by the sound of the car crashing, rushed to the site and attempted to assist in extracting the victims from the ravine. They immediately notified the police department and the 108 ambulance service.
Due to the depth and challenging terrain of the gorge, rescuers faced difficulties in retrieving the bodies. Despite their efforts, all the three were declared dead at the scene. The police have initiated inquest proceedings.
