SHIMLA: In the wake of Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in the Assembly elections in three key states, Himachal’s Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has launched a scathing attack on Congress, attributing the victory to the effective governance model implemented by the saffron party.
Jai Ram criticised the Congress for its failed attempt to leverage the old pension scheme (OPS) as an electoral strategy, highlighting the stark contrast between the states of Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
He emphasised that despite Congress implementing OPS in these states, the party suffered a resounding defeat. He asserted that the people had grown wary of false guarantees and cited the issue of corruption, along with the public’s confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, as decisive factors in BJP’s favour.
Expressing confidence in BJP’s prospects in Himachal for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Jai Ram declared that the Congress would not reap the benefits of OPS, predicting a comprehensive victory for BJP by 4-0.
At a media interaction, he disclosed that he personally campaigned in four states, utilising digital presentations to expose what he labelled as false guarantees made by the Congress in Himachal. He credited the media for effectively disseminating this information to the public.
The BJP’s resounding victories in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have not only bolstered the morale of party workers nationwide but have also reignited celebrations in Himachal Pradesh. In cities across the state, including Shimla, BJP leaders are jubilant, celebrating with traditional dances, drumming and the distribution of sweets.
