One of masterminds of Himachal Pradesh Police paper leak case arrested from Varanasi, cops call it a ‘major breakthrough’

The Newz Radar, Dharamshala

In a major breakthrough, the Himachal Pradesh Police special investigation team (SIT) formed to probe the police constable recruitment paper leak case claims to have nabbed one of the masterminds, Shiv Bahadur, from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh late on Monday night.
The SIT members are also learnt to have taken into custody one of Shiv Bahadur’s associates, identified as Akhilesh. Both the accused were being brought to Dharamshala where they would be presented in the court and their police remand would be sought, said sources.
After getting their remand from the court, the police would interrogate the accused on how the question paper was leaked and how they had set up the entire network due to which the accused easily broke the recruitment mechanism despite “appropriate arrangements” made by the police.
Earlier, the police had arrested four youths in the paper leak case from Nalagarh in Solan district. The youths had achieved low percentage in their academic qualification examination, but topped in the recruitment test, scoring more than 65 marks out of 90, the police claimed. So far, 26 accused have been arrested in the case. The SIT is looking to fast get to the bottom of the case and the arrest of one of the masterminds from Varanasi is being seen as a crucial step in this direction.
