On Himachal Statehood Day, CM Sukhu disappoints employees, pensioners as no announcement made on dearness allowance

DHARAMSHALA: The 54th Statehood Day of Himachal Pradesh was celebrated with grandeur on Thursday at Dharampur in Mandi district.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu hoisted the national flag and inspected an impressive marchpast featuring contingents from Police, Home Guards, Indian Reserve Battalion Sakoh, NCC and Scouts and Guides.
In his address, Chief Minister Sukhu made announcements revealing plans to fill 10,000 posts across various categories and introducing English-medium classes from the upcoming academic session. He emphasised the government’s commitment to disaster relief, disclosing a 25-fold increase in compensation to alleviate losses. A boost to the state’s electric vehicle infrastructure was also unveiled, with plans for 13 additional charging stations set to open in April.
Highlighting the achievements of the state government, CM Sukhu underscored the priority of Mandi district’s development. Several announcements specific to Dharampur area were made, including the establishment of DSP offices in Sandhol and Dharampur. Furthermore, an allocation of Rs 3 crore was earmarked for the beautification of the revered Baba Kamalahiya Temple.
However, amidst the festive atmosphere, a note of disappointment resonated among employees and pensioners as the Chief Minister refrained from announcing dearness allowance during the celebration. Despite this, the event showcased a blend of cultural presentations, patriotic fervour and a vision for the future as Himachal Pradesh continues its journey of progress and development.
