Ration card holders in Himachal Pradesh will not receive subsidized ration at the depots from Monday for three days. The Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs has issued a notification to all districts regarding this.
From September 2 to 4, the data of ration card beneficiaries will be transferred from the server of the Department of Information Technology to the server of the National Informatics Centre (NIC). Due to this transfer, e-POS machines in the depots will not function, resulting in a temporary halt in the allocation of rations at depots for three days.
The District Food and Supply Department has urged consumers not to visit depots for ration during this period to avoid inconvenience. Normal distribution of ration will resume after three days. It is worth noting that ration depots remain closed on Mondays, and this situation will affect consumers on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to available information, there are approximately 1.95 million ration card holders in the state who receive rations from the government through these depots every month. The government provides a special subsidy on the purchase of food grains.
Step Taken to Prevent Ration Black Marketing
This measure has been implemented by the state government to curb the black marketing of ration. While this decision temporarily halts ration distribution for three days, it aims to streamline operations and prevent malpractices in the long run.
Once the data transfer is complete, consumers will not face any difficulties. The government has taken this step to enhance service delivery, although it might cause some inconvenience to the public for a short duration.
