Mandi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, addressing a public rally in Pangna village of the Karsog assembly segment on Thursday, declared that the BJP’s lotus symbol on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) is a cure for a hundred ailments that society is facing. He urged the people to vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gadkari was campaigning for BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut, who was present at the rally alongside former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur. Gadkari described Kangana her as a nationalist, talented, and a proud daughter of Himachal Pradesh. He assured the electorate that voting for Kangana would lead to significant development, a promise backed by both him and Prime Minister Modi.
Gadkari announced that he has sanctioned projects worth ₹20,000 crores for the state, set to begin post-election. In response to local demands for improved infrastructure, he pledged that if Kangana wins, the constituency would receive four roads instead of just one.
Addressing the agricultural issues in Himachal Pradesh, particularly the apple industry, Gadkari acknowledged the difficulties faced by local apple growers in competing with foreign varieties. He proposed implementing projects similar to those in Nashik, where the use of foreign grafts has significantly boosted grape exports to ₹1,500 crores. These initiatives aim to enhance the quality of Himachali apples and enable orchard owners to sell their produce on the international market, potentially earning in dollars.
Reflecting on his tenure since 2014, Gadkari highlighted his efforts to eliminate the inhumane practice of human labor carrying humans. He proudly noted that today, 15 million people in India earn their livelihood by driving auto-rickshaws, showcasing the positive changes brought about by his ministry.
