SHIMLA: Newly appointed minister in the Himachal Pradesh government Yadvinder Goma assumed charge at the Secretariat in Shimla on Saturday (December 16, 2023).
On assuming charge, he was congratulated by party leaders, officials and employees. Goma, in an informal conversation with the media, said that by appointing one more minister, Kangra district had got full representation in the government.
Goma maintained that the BJP was trying to mislead people by alleging that Kangra district had not received due representation in the government. He said that Kangra was the largest district of the state and the Congress had won 10 of the 15 seats. “Kangra now has two cabinet ministers, as many CPSes and three chairpersons of various boards,” he said.
The minister, who is yet to be allotted a portfolio, said that the post of one minister was vacant in the cabinet and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has assured of filling this too in due time before the Lok Sabha elections.
Goma also thanked Chief Minister Sukhu and the party high command for his appointment. He said that the Chief Minister had given the slogan of ‘Vyavastha Parivartan’ (system change) and he was working in this direction.
On the question of distribution of departments, Goma said that if the Chief Minister asked him about his favourite department, he would definitely tell him. He said that whatever department would be given to him by the Chief Minister and the high command, he would try to deliver on it 100 per cent.
Regarding his Delhi visit, Goma said that due to the Parliament session, he could not meet former party president Rahul Gandhi. He said he met party national president Mallikarjun Kharge, senior leaders KC Venugopal, Mukul Wasnik and party in-charge Rajeev Shukla. He said that Kharge had given instructions regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which would be implemented so that the party’s victory could be ensured in these elections.
