Political novice Kangana Ranaut, the BJP’s choice for Mandi Lok Sabha seat, has clearly bitten off more than she can chew by “trying” to capitalise on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. However, this political tactic has not gone well with some family members of the Netaji, who have slammed Ranaut.
Netaji’s grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose criticised Kangana for saying that Subhas Chandra Bose, and not Jawaharlal Nehru, was the country’s first Prime Minister. Chandra Kumar said that no one should distort history for their political ambition.
“Kangana Ranaut is a talented actor but when she is making a comment from history, then she must do some study. Netaji should not be drawn into a political slugfest in the current day politics. I get the impression that Netaji is being used as a political tool,” Chandra Kumar told mediapersons.
Kangana had recently told a television news channel that Netaji was the first Prime Minister of independent India, triggering online backlash. She doubled down on her claim by sharing a screenshot of a news article on X, which said that Netaji formed the provisional government of Azad Hind in Singapore in 1943 and declared himself as the first Prime Minister.
“If Kangana Ranaut really wants to show respect to Netaji, she must follow his inclusive ideology to unite all communities as Bharatiyas. He was the only leader who could unite all communities to fight for India’s freedom. Shun divisive and communal politics,” said Chandra Kumar. He had resigned from the BJP last September amid the India vs Bharat row saying “his ideals no longer aligned with the party”.
