A Nepali-origin man, Gopal, killed his 27-year-old wife after hitting her on the head with a stick at Madaog village under Chopal sub-division of Shimla district in Himachal Pradesh.
According to information, the couple along with their two daughters, aged seven years and five months, had been staying at the house of an apple orchardist in the village. The incident reportedly occurred about two months ago and the police have recovered the victim’s decomposed body that had been partially buried in a corner of the orchard.
The incident, which has left the residents of Madaog shocked, came to light when orchard owner Sunil Bragta found scattered clothes and a shoe in his orchard on Monday. Upon further investigation, the police discovered the mutilated body at a short distance from the spot. The decomposed body was later identified as that of Maya, who had been missing for two months.
Upon interrogation, Gopal confessed to killing his wife with a stick during a quarrel. The police have recovered the murder weapon at his instance. Gopal has been arrested for the murder of his wife.
