PALAMPUR: NCC cadets paid homage to late Army braveheart Captain Vikram Batra at Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra Government College in Palampur on the occasion of his martyrdom day.

Led by Lt Dr Deep Thakur and Lt Professor Renu Dogra, the college’s principal, Dr Pragya Mishra, along with teachers paid homage to Captain Vikram Batra by garlanding the statue installed within the college premises. The ceremony served as a tribute to his immortal sacrifice and heroic deeds.

Pragya Mishra expressed deep reverence for the courageous life and ideals of the martyr, urging all present to draw inspiration from his remarkable journey. Teaching and non-teaching staff of the college joined in this solemn occasion to remember and honour the brave soldier.

Captain Vikram Batra, an Indian Army officer, made immense contributions during the Kargil War in 1999. His exceptional bravery and indomitable spirit earned him the nickname “Sher Shah”. His valiant efforts to recapture Point 4875, famously stating “Yeh dil maange more” (heart craves more), have become legendary. Captain Vikram Batra was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour, for his extraordinary courage and leadership.
