SHIMLA: The politics over outsourced employees losing their jobs has once again hot up in Himachal Pradesh. Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur attacked the present Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government over the issue.
Hitting back, principal media adviser to the Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan called Jai Ram’s statement as “absurd rhetoric out of BJP’s electoral compulsion”.
Chauhan accused Jai Ram of making false statements in view of the approaching 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He highlighted the efforts of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu towards the welfare of the state’s people, including the implementation of the old pension system (OPS) and providing employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
Chauhan also emphasised the government’s continuous efforts in favour of horticulturists. He announced that the government had recently decided to sell apples in universal cartons, with a fixed weight of 24 kg. He said the horticulturists were receiving payment for 22 kg of apples, while the remaining weight accounted for the box and packaging material.
Chauhan assured that the government was open to dialogue and was actively addressing the issues faced by horticulturists and traders.
