Condolences offered to 3 ex-MLAs, people killed in corona 2nd wave

The monsoon session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly commenced with homage being paid to late Virbhadra Singh and late Narendra Baragata.


Condolences were offered to three former MLAs Amar Singh, Ram Singh and Mohan Lal, and also to all those who had succumbed during the second wave of corona in the state as well as those who were killed in landslides plus other monsoon related accidents.

CM Thakur remembers former 6-time CM

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur recalled the days spent with Virbhadra Singh. He said that Virbhadra Singh had a stellar record as far as the all-around development of the state was concerned.

The six-time CM had carved out a place in the hearts of this state’s people, Thakur said.


Recalling the work done by Narendra Baragata, the CM said that he would always be remembered for his contributions in the field of horticulture.


Among others urban development minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Asha Kumari and Vikramaditya Singh addressed the Assembly.

Leader of Opposition

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Mukesh Agnihotri, recalled how the doors of former CM Virbhadra Singh’s private residence were always open for the public.

A needy person could meet him anytime, Agnihotri said and went on to recall many anecdotes related to Virbhadra Singh which had made him dear to the people of this state.

He urged the state government to get a statue of Virbhadra Singh installed at the Ridge in Shimla as a token of appreciation for a person who was the founder of the modern Himachal Pradesh
