The Zonal Hospital in Dharamshala is set to install modern machinery in its orthopedic and ophthalmology departments. This includes a new C-arm machine for orthopedic surgery and a new A-scan machine for the ophthalmology department.
At an estimated cost of nearly 1.5 million rupees, a state-of-the-art C-arm machine will soon be available at the hospital. Its installation will significantly improve surgical services in the orthopedic department. With two orthopedic surgeons already stationed at the hospital and a growing demand for modern C-arm machines, the acquisition of this mobile imaging unit is welcomed.
The C-arm is primarily used for fluoroscopic imaging during surgical and orthopedic procedures. It provides clearer visualization of the skeletal structure, enabling better examination of long bone fractures or minor fractures in the extremities.
This aids surgeons significantly during operations. Additionally, the hospital will also acquire a new A-scan machine at an estimated cost of around 500,000 rupees. This machine is essential for calculating lens power required for cataract surgery.
Dr. Rajesh Guleri, MS at the Jonal Hospital in Dharamshala, highlighted that the installation of these two machines will lead to improvements in facilities and services at the hospital. The process for procuring these machines has already commenced, with a budget of 2 million rupees approved by the Dharamshala Hospital’s Patient Welfare Committee.
