Dharamshala: A mock drill on disaster management will be organized in all educational institutions in Kangra district.
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Berwa informed that directions have been issued to all sub-divisional magistrates, deputy directors of education for higher and primary education regarding the organization of the mock drill.
The DC highlighted that on April 4, 1905, a devastating earthquake in Kangra district resulted in the loss of 20,000 lives and over a lakh buildings were damaged. Special emphasis is being given to disaster management to mitigate losses in such situations.
Plans for disaster management have been formulated at the district and sub-divisional levels, along with directives to prepare disaster plans for schools and hospitals. Regular mock drills are conducted to evaluate the disaster management plan, ensuring that actions are aligned during emergencies and personnel are trained to handle such situations effectively.
