CHANDIGARH: A mobile phone has been recovered in the possession of notorious Himachal Pradesh gangster Rajeev Kaushal, who is currently incarcerated in the high-security zone of Ferozepur Central Jail. The recovery has raised serious concerns about the security measures within the prison facility.
The incident came to light when a jail official received information suggesting that Rajeev, a resident of Una district in Himachal, was keeping a mobile phone in his cell, located in compound number 2 of the high-security zone.
A subsequent search of Rajeev’s cell resulted in the recovery of the mobile phone, complete with a keypad, SIM card and battery.On the complaint filed by the jail administration, the Ferozepur City Police have registered a case concerning the recovery of mobile phones from three other inmates.
These inmates have been identified as Rupinder Singh from Rajasthan; Aniruddh and Rajesh Kumar from Bathinda, Punjab.Another jail official said that during routine checks, three mobile phones were confiscated from the possession of Rupinder Singh, Anuruddh, and Rajesh Kumar, all incarcerated in Ferozepur Central Jail.
The jail administration promptly submitted a formal complaint to the Firozpur City Police Station, urging legal action against the inmates in possession of unauthorised mobile devices.
The incident has exposed a potential breach in the security protocol of Ferozepur Central Jail and has raised questions about the effectiveness of measures put in place to prevent the use of unauthorised communication devices by inmates.
