MANDI: ML Mahajan was elected as the new president of the Rotary Club, Sundernagar, during an installation ceremony held at a local hotel on Sunday evening.
Ajay Kapoor will render his services as club secretary for the year 2023-24. Rohit Oberio, DGN (district governor nominated), was the installation officer during the ceremony. Distt secretary of sanitation HS Jogi was also present.
The investiture ceremony is a very prestigious celebration in Rotary International every year when the baton is passed to the new leadership to infuse new energy into the incoming team for dedicated service to the community for making a difference.
Outgoing president Ram Pal Gupta highlighted the projects completed by the club during his tenure with special mention to starting up of construction of the much-anticipated Rotary Eye Hospital building at Sundernagar. Outgoing secretary Gaurav Sarochiya presented a detailed report on various activities undertaken by the club during their tenure (2022-23).
The newly elected president presented the vision for the year and emphasised the projects conceptualised for the welfare of society. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed gratitude for the esteemed responsibility entrusted upon him as the president and reassured the commitment of the club to work with devotion and dedication on several ongoing projects. He said it was time to turn their dreams into reality as they imagined a world filled with hope, faith, love and gratitude. “Let us extract happiness and implant smiles,” he said.
The president also introduced the members of his new board and pledged to serve the humanity as Rotary opens opportunities. The ceremony was attended by presidents and members of Rotary Clubs of Mandi, Ner Chowk, Bilaspur and Ghumarwin, other than members of the host club.
An award ceremony was also held where other than district awards, club awards were given to members for their extraordinary services during the year. Newly inducted members were pinned by the chief guest. Rohit Oberio congratulated the new team and appreciated the club activities and projects undertaken by the club from time to time. He assured full support to the club for their ambitious Rotary Eye Hospital Project.
The new team also includes DS Kharbanda as senior vice-president, Prem Saini as vice-president, Suman Patial as treasurer and Suresh Gupta and Ajay Khullar as sergeants at arms.
