Met forecasts rain, snow in high-altitude areas of Himachal; temperature drops by over 4 degrees in Sundernagar, Bhuntar

SHIMLA: Several places in Himachal Pradesh witnessed a significant drop in temperature over the past 24 years. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting light rain in central areas and snowfall in high-altitude regions.

Snow blanketed several high-altitude areas, leading to a noticeable decline in temperatures across the state. The maximum temperatures in key locations have experienced a substantial plunge.

In Shimla, the mercury has dropped by approximately 1 degree Celsius, settling at 14.5 degrees Celsius. Sundernagar experienced a sharper decline of 5.1 degrees Celsius, reaching 17.8 degrees Celsius, while Bhuntar recorded a temperature drop of 4.7 degrees Celsius, settling at 16 degrees Celsius. Kalpa witnessed a dip of 2.5 degrees Celsius, registering a temperature of 10.8 degrees Celsius. Dharamshala and Dalhousie reported temperature drop of 3 degrees Celsius and 2.4 degrees Celsius, respectively, with temperature settling at 18 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius. Una recorded the highest temperature at 23 degrees Celsius in the state.

Simultaneously, minimum temperatures have also plummeted, with Shimla experiencing a decrease of 1.4 degrees Celsius, reaching 5.4 degrees Celsius. Sundernagar reported a minimum temperature of minus 0.4 degrees Celsius, while Bhuntar recorded minus 1 degree Celsius. Kalpa witnessed a chilling minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, and Samdho recorded the lowest at minus 3.5 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has issued warnings for the central areas of the state, anticipating light rain and some high-altitude areas may witness both light rain and snowfall. Residents are advised to take precautions and stay updated on weather developments as the state navigates through this unexpected winter weather spell.
The temperature has dropped due to bad weather in the state. Both maximum and minimum temperatures have fallen at various places in the state. Today, the Meteorological Department has predicted light rain at some places in the central areas of the state and snowfall in the high-altitude areas.

The temperature has fallen at most places in the state. The maximum temperature in Shimla has fallen by about one degree Celsius to 14.5 degrees. Whereas in Sundernagar the temperature has fallen by 5.1 degrees Celsius to 17.8 degrees, in Bhuntar the temperature has dropped by 4.7 degrees and it has reached 16 degrees. The temperature in Kalpa has fallen by 2.5 degrees to 10.8 degrees. Similarly, in Dharamshala the temperature was recorded at 18 degrees with a drop of 3 degrees. The temperature in Dahlauji dropped by 2.4 degrees and was recorded at 13.0 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature of 23 degrees Celsius has been recorded in Una in the state.

Along with the maximum temperature, the minimum temperature has also declined. The mercury has dropped in other places of the state including Shimla. The minimum temperature in Shimla has fallen by 1.4 degrees to 5.4 degrees. In Sundernagar the mercury was recorded at minus 0.4 degree Celsius and in Bhuntar the mercury was recorded at minus 1.0 degree Celsius. Similarly, the minimum temperature in Kalpa was minus 1.2 degrees. The minimum temperature has been recorded at minus 3.5 degrees in Samdho.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in the central areas of the state today and light rain and snowfall at some places in the higher areas.
