MANDI: Pragnya Shourya Modgil, a resident of Bhagwan Mohalla in Mandi city, has been awarded a doctoral research fellowship at the Oslo University in Norway.
The research focuses on machine learning-based global glacier modeling under the guidance of Professor Regine Hock. The research will be conducted in the Department of Geosciences.
Pragnya will receive an annual grant of ₹50 lakh for this three-year research. The achievement has brought joy to his family and the people of Mandi. Pragnya’s father Umesh Modgil is a principal in Shimla and his mother Poonam is a homemaker.
His younger sister Asmita is currently pursuing her studies. Pragnya completed his 10th grade at the Himachal Pradesh University Model School in Shimla, followed by his schooling at DAV School, Lakkar Bazaar. He pursued his BTech in Civil Engineering from NIT-Hamirpur and an MTech in Seismology from the Indian School of Mines, IIT-Dhanbad.
