Mandi’s Ajay Thakur clinches bronze at national kickboxing championship

MANDI: Ajay Thakur, hailing from Kotli village in Mandi district, has brought laurels to his hometown as well as Himachal Pradesh by securing a bronze medal at the National Kickboxing Championship-2024 held in Mapusa, Goa.
The achievement has been a source of great joy and pride in the region. Upon returning, Ajay was warmly welcomed at a ceremony held in Delhi, followed by grand receptions in Bilaspur, Sundernagar, Haveli Gutkar, Mandi and his hometown Kotli.
This triumphant return celebrated not only his victory, but also the promise of future success.
Ajay credited his success to his mentor Sanjay Yadav, a recipient of the Parashuram Award, as well as Rajesh Thakur from Sundernagar, and Bhajnik Singh of Ratan Jewellers.
With this accomplishment, Ajay has earned a spot in the upcoming international kickboxing competition scheduled to be held in Delhi in February 2025.
Coaches and family members have extended their congratulations to Ajay, expressing confidence that he would continue to bring honour to the region and the state by striving for a medal at the international level.
