MANDI: In a significant step towards digital healthcare, the Mandi Zonal Hospital has introduced an online registration system, streamlining the process for patients and reducing wait times. The health facility recently implemented the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), offering a seamless online experience for patients.
With this new system, patients can conveniently book a registration token through the ABHA app. By creating a profile and adding family members, patients can scan the hospital’s QR code to initiate their registration. Once issued, the token remains valid for an hour, allowing patients to bypass queues and receive a printed registration slip immediately upon arrival at the counter.

Dr DS Verma, Medical Superintendent of the Zonal Hospital at Mandi, highlighted that the HMIS aligns the facility with other advanced hospitals in the region. With 33 new computers and printers provided by the health department, the system allows all doctors to access patient records digitally, facilitating coordinated and efficient patient care.
Since its introduction, more than 350 patients have registered via the ABHA app. Dr Verma emphasised that as the hospital continues to promote the online system, they expect a steady increase in usage. To accommodate surges in patient visits on Mondays and the day following public holidays, an additional counter has also been established, enhancing service efficiency for high-traffic days.
This shift to a digital registration process is part of the hospital’s ongoing commitment to improving patient experiences and making healthcare services more accessible.
