MANDI: A controversy has erupted in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district where a teacher allegedly threatened her students with a knife over a viral video.
The incident reportedly occurred at Palohata Government School under Nachan Vidhan Sabha constituency in Sundernagar sub-division in Mandi.
According to information, the teacher reportedly confronted her students after the latter recorded his video while teaching and posted it on social media. In a fit of rage, the teacher allegedly summoned the students to the classroom, placed a knife on the desk and asked them who posted the video on social media.
The incident led to concern among students, leading to the intervention of both the school management committee and the parents. Upon investigation, it was found that the video in question contained nothing that warranted such a kneejerk reaction from the teacher, said an official.
Principal Dhani Ram assured that efforts would be made to address the matter through dialogue. He said action would be taken in accordance with directions from the higher authorities.
Banita, chairperson of the school management committee, emphasised the need to prevent such incidents from recurring, underscoring the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of students. The teacher, in her defence, clarified that her intention was solely to identify the student responsible for the video and not to intimidate or pressure the students.
