Problem for commuters to remain till four-lane project is completed
The Newz Radar, Mandi
The Mandi-Manali highway which was blocked due to heavy landslides, 7 km from Mandi on Mandi-Pandoh road, was finally cleared for vehicular traffic after 18 hours at 6 pm on Friday evening.
Hundreds of vehicles were seen lined up on both sides of the National Highway before the blockage was removed.
Commuters, especially tourists, who got stranded on their way to Manali had to wait for hours for the opening up of the highway.
Though the traffic for light motor vehicles was diverted Via Mandi-Bajaura road due to single lane road it also got choked at many points resulting in huge traffic jams.
Due to the ongoing four-lane project undertaken by NHAI landslides have become quite common due to the excavation of the mountains for widening of roads resulting in landslides quite often.
