Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut mourns passing of her grandmother, calls her a pillar of strength, inspiration
MANDI: Bollywood actress and Mandi BJP MP Kangana Ranaut shared the heartbreaking news of her maternal grandmother Indrani Thakur’s passing on social media.
Indrani Thakur, who was over 100 years old, was a towering figure in her family both figuratively and literally, standing at 5 feet 8 inches — an uncommon height for a woman from the mountainous regions of Himachal Pradesh.
Kangana took to Instagram to pay tribute to her grandmother, posting cherished photos and a heartfelt message.
She shared, “Last night, my nani ji, Indrani Thakur, passed away. Our entire family is in mourning. Please keep her in your prayers.”
Kangana went on to express how much she had inherited from her grandmother, including her height, health and lively spirit.
“She was over 100 years old yet was so vibrant and independent that she did all her work on her own,” Kangana wrote.
Despite her advanced age, Indrani remained remarkably active until a recent stroke, which left her bedridden.
This shift was difficult for someone who had lived a life of independence. “She led a wonderful life and became an inspiration for all of us.
She will always be part of our DNA in our appearances and she will forever be remembered,” Kangana shared in her tribute.
Reflecting on her grandmother’s life, Kangana mentioned that Indrani’s legacy extended beyond her family to her progressive values.
With limited resources, her grandparents prioritised education, sending their five children to some of the best institutions.
Indrani also encouraged her married daughters to pursue their careers, embodying values of empowerment and resilience that left a lasting impact.
Kangana’s tribute to her grandmother, a woman who lived life with dignity, resilience and devotion, resonated with her fans and followers, offering a glimpse into the values and traditions that shaped the actress’s own life.
