MANDI: Popularly known as ‘Pride of Kelodhar’, Isha Thakur of Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district has earned the distinction of being selected for under-14 national games in not one but two sports—badminton and volleyball.
A Class IX student at Senior Secondary School at Kelodhar in Mandi’s Seraj, her remarkable achievements at the state-level competitions have brought pride to her school and the district.
Isha showcased her sporting prowess at the under-14 state-level games held in Shimla’s Sunni from October 6 to 9, where her stellar performances in both badminton and volleyball earned her a place in the national squad. Prior to this, she had excelled in the block and district-level competitions, paving her way to the state stage.

National-level representation
Now, Isha will represent Himachal Pradesh at the national level in both badminton and volleyball, a rare feat that highlights her dedication and talent. Her success has not only elevated her personal profile but has also brought immense joy and pride to her school, family and the local community.
Support from school and family
Isha’s father Bheem Singh Thakur is a retired paramilitary officer and her mother Meena Devi is a JBT teacher. The support from her family, combined with the efforts of her school teachers, has been instrumental in her success. School’s acting principal Sandhya Kumari, SMC chairperson Khila Devi, DPE Devendra Kumar, PET Rohit Kumar and Tourism Teacher Umesh Kumar have all congratulated Isha and extended their best wishes for her future endeavors.
