Mandi Election: Vikramaditya Singh garners support fomr AAP, CPI, CPI (M) against Kangana

Mandi: In a significant move that could tilt the political landscape in Mandi, Vikramaditya Singh, the Congress candidate, has garnered support from key opposition parties including CPI, CPI(M), and the Aam Aadmi Party. The announcement came during a joint press conference held at Gandhi Bhavan, Mandi, where leaders from these parties voiced their concerns over the Modi government’s policies.

Dubbed as the ‘India Alliance’, the coalition leaders minced no words in criticizing the central government, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of wielding power to undermine democratically elected administrations. Mandi District Congress Committee Executive President Shashi Sharma lambasted the government’s authoritarian tactics, asserting that their days of suppressing opposition voices are numbered.

Kushal Bhardwaj, a state secretariat member of CPI(M), raised alarm over the BJP’s ambitious ‘400 plus’ slogan, alleging it’s not merely about securing a majority but an attempt to overhaul the constitutional fabric of the nation. AAP’s state vice president Sher Singh echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the government’s alleged misuse of investigative agencies and hinting at ominous implications for the country’s democratic setup.

Bhupendra Singh, representing CITU, launched a scathing attack on the Modi administration, accusing it of anti-worker policies and deliberate efforts to dismantle welfare schemes like MNREGA. He lamented the erosion of labor rights under the current regime, citing the rollback of pre-2014 labor laws as evidence.

Adding to the political drama, Congress leader Shashi Sharma took aim at BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut, criticizing her disrespectful conduct towards senior BJP leaders during her nomination rally. Sharma underscored Ranaut’s disregard for seasoned leaders like Jai Ram Thakur, asserting that her actions were aimed at self-aggrandizement rather than party unity.

The support garnered by Vikramaditya Singh from these influential opposition parties signals a formidable challenge to the BJP’s dominance in Mandi. As the election fervor intensifies, the stage is set for a gripping electoral showdown that could reshape the political landscape of the region.
