Mandi: The district administration of Mandi has released a comprehensive damage report revealing that the recent heavy rains have caused destruction amounting to ₹160 crores. The torrential downpours over the past two days have led to widespread damage, with many roads in the district now closed and relief efforts facing significant challenges.

Deputy Commissioner Apoorva Devgan confirmed that the relentless rainfall has severely hampered the district’s ability to carry out necessary relief operations. As of August 11th, the estimated damage in the district stands at ₹11.91 crores, with both government infrastructure and private properties affected.

Efforts to restore essential services, including roads, water supply, and electricity, are ongoing, with machinery and staff working around the clock. However, continuous rainfall has exacerbated the situation, causing further issues such as debris falling from the mountains near Nau Mile, which has disrupted vehicle movement on the National Highway.

Additionally, the heavy rains have displaced a temporary embankment at Kainchi Modh near Pandoh, installed on the four-lane highway. The district administration, along with NHAI, is focusing on immediate repairs to enable two-lane traffic while planning for a more permanent solution in the future.

The district administration remains vigilant as they monitor the evolving situation and prioritize the safety of residents while working to restore normalcy in the region.
