MANDI: Anil Sharma, the BJP MLA from Mandi Sadar constituency, has publicly challenged Congress leader and current Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh over “unfulfilled” promises made during the Lok Sabha elections.

Sharma accused Singh of failing to deliver on his commitment to start work immediately on rebuilding bridges damaged in last year’s monsoon from Pandoh to Koon Ka Tar in Mandi, a key promise during his campaign.

Addressing a press conference in Mandi, Sharma lambasted the Congress, stating, “Congress leaders excel at misleading the public during elections with hollow promises in the name of development.” He also revealed that when he raised this issue in the Assembly, the government’s response was unsatisfactory, with no concrete answers provided by the concerned ministers.

Sharma outlined his development priorities for Mandi town and the Mandi Sadar constituency, highlighting significant progress under his tenure. He cited the successful implementation of a major sewerage project and announced that a proposal worth approximately Rs 125 crore is being submitted to the central government for further development.

Furthermore, Sharma disclosed that the central government has sanctioned Rs 9 crore for parking and a nursing hostel at the local hospital, part of a broader Rs 18 crore project. Construction activities are also progressing on the Sakodi and Suketi bypasses, with investments running into crores of rupees. Looking ahead, Sharma announced plans to develop a large sports ground, additional parking and a helipad in Kotli, aimed at enhancing public amenities.
